Are Wellness Shots the Key to Health?

Shots before 11am? We won't say no! We're talking about juice shots - gut health concoctions, energy boosters and immunity boosters. Influencers and celebrities are posting this daily wellness hit on social media, but is a juice shot beneficial to staying healthy?

Juice shots are branded as tiny bottles of goodness filled with nutrients, health boosting vitamin

s and illness preventing magical ingredients. The vibrant colour drinks are intended to be a self-styled cure-all for any ailments you may encounter. But is this modern phenomenon worth the price tag? According to owner of Heath Over All, Dr. Jordin Wiggins ND, we should be looking at juice shots "as a boost" and not a cure.

Loaded with green vegetables or spices such as turmeric or ginger, juice shots have become akin to grabbing a coffee before walking into the office. Ingredients such as turmeric do increase the antioxidant capacity in the body which is the key to slowing down the ageing process and it provides anti-inflammatory properties. Two of the most popular vegetables in green jui

ce shots are kale - which contains vitamin A, C and K, and cucumber - which is high in nutrients, antioxidants and is one of the most hydrating foods you can consume. This does give credence to the claim that they are beneficial to your heath and wellbeing, however, as of now, there is no substantial medical evidence to support this. But even a little of what's good for you rather than nothing is better, no?

Taking a single nutritious high vitamin juice shot once very now and then, won't help your wellbein

g in a significant fashion. Yet, with daily continued use, shot-ing a homemade and natural juice shot full of good things definitely can't hurt.

Here's my go-to juice shot packed full of goodness.

  2. Add in the ginger, turmeric and black pepper.

  3. Pour in the honey and water

  4. Blend until smooth.

  5. Strain the mixture into a jug until the pulp and the juice are separated.

  6. Take a shot now, or refrigerate the juice until you need it.
